June Open-Thread

Key West is a wonderful summer hangout and place to discuss research and policy issues!
With summer officially starting yesterday and June quickly passing us by, we thought we'd check in with you - our New Voices readers - on what issues have really come to the forefront for you this year? What concerns do you have about policy, health, research, employment, the future?

Thursday Open-Thread

Here at New Voices, things have been exceptionally busy. You're definitely going to get to see the fruits of this labor soon by way of posts about polling, science communication, advocacy resources and tools, and strategies tailored just for scientists. But for today, we're asking for a brief reprieve and some thoughts from you on what types of things you'd like to hear about on New Voices this summer.

More advocate profiles? guest posts? public opinion data? Policy reports, feedback from events here in DC, or examples of well translated research?

The comments section is open. Help us create content just for you this summer - join the conversation!

Education Thought-Starter

New Voices is off tomorrow in celebration of a well-done work week. (Wouldn't it be lovely if every Friday was this way?) But never one to leave you hanging - especially on a holiday! - here's a thought starter for you to discuss over some green goodies tonight or about town this weekend:
With all of the cuts being discussed in the budget debates here in Washington, how will this effect the future of STEM education in the U.S.?
The conversation starts in the comments.

Open Thread Friday

Comic credit: xkcd.com

First, we've got a follow-up comic to Ryan's post last week. Second, we're opening the floor to thoughts on the science issues of today.

May the discussion begin.
